Junk Journal Planning with a MadPlans Digital Kit

Well, howdy, my Mad Paper Crushers! I’ve got so many things on my plate right now, that I need to get my next month’s planner going so I can dig in there and keep my lists, brainstorm and have a written plan for the next few weeks. And I know it’s hard to believe, but I’m actually a regular planner. I just can’t seem to make videos every month. Life is funny like that!

Let’s Plan!

Well, I’m back with a fun and easy plan for March using my latest MadPlans Digital kit – Luminary. If you aren’t familiar with my digital DIY planner kits, they are designed to be flexible and useful, all while keeping a vintage junk journal theme. They really are a tool to help you get your planning done efficiently with supplies that’ll inspire you all month long! If you want to watch me create this months plan, head to the video below to see how it comes together.

If you want to see a full flip through of the kit, you can go here.

I decided that since it’s March and we are headed into spring – but still seem to have blustery days and cold mornings, this cozy kit would be the perfect transition into spring. It’s got boat loads of vintage lanterns and candles and things that give off “light”, which is what I seem to be looking for all the time right now!

Using the Kit in an Existing Junk Journal Planner

While you can use all the pages in the kit as a standalone planner, I decided to cut them in half and do a sort of “faux binding” into my existing spiral bound planner.

You can add new pages into your existing planner in just a few easy steps:

  1. Line up the pages you want to bind next to the spiral spine in your planner.
  2. Mark where the holes should go.
  3. Punch the holes with a hand held hole punch or cinch binder if you made your own planner!
  4. Snip the edge of the punches holes so you can gently add the new pages into the sprial. Viola!

After adding in the pages, I went through the pages and added dates, the month and list titles for the things I like to plan each month.

Decorating and Adding Embellishments

I always love to embellish my plans with all the regular junk journal planner go-tos. Pockets, tip-ins, tags and washi tape are some of my favorites! I show you how I used the ephemera pages in the kit to create a pocket, add a tag and even how to make your own planner bookmark from recycled packaging.

I hope you find this video inspiring, and if you haven’t done junk journal planning, I hope you’ll join me for this creative journey! Even if you’re a seasoned planner, my goal is to motivate you to create and be inspired.
