Junk Journal January – Day 30 – Unexpected
Here we are in the last few days of January, and I’m so excited to bring to you my Junk Journal January prompt – “unexpected”.
I love having something unexpected in my journals. Whether it’s a hidden tuck spot, a page flip – just something to spark the imagination and bring joy when you find it. So that’s what I was going for as I thought about this prompt.
I first dug into some old magazines for some images to inspire me, and I found 2 great advertisements that reminded me of my grandmother. She was a dancer all her life – from the USO in World War II, all the way into her 70’s with a dance studio of her own. The women in these advertisements reminded me of her spunk and love of dance – so they were #1 on my list of things to include in my unexpected page layout.
I used a lot of collage in this page – and as you’ll see, some unconventional ephemera items helped the whole thing come together.
And – you’ll notice that I left in some of the things that didn’t go exactly right – and I still love it. Check out the video below to see my process.
